Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and mechanically inclined Mechanic I to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of pumps, motors, and mechanical equipment used in water and utility operations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with electrical control systems, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.
Qualifications
• Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Reliable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious
• Knowledge of installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of pumps, motors, and mechanical equipment
• Ability to inspect equipment and determine repair requirements
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and written or verbal work instructions
• Experience using mechanic's hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
• Working knowledge of 240/480V AC/DC electrical control systems
• Ability to read and interpret SCADA system information
• Strong communication and comprehension skills
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Maintenance & Repairs
• Install, overhaul, repair, service, and maintain pumps, motors, compressors, blowers, valves, gauges, meters, diesel engines, gas engines, and related mechanical equipment
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumping station equipment
• Inspect equipment to identify operating issues and determine appropriate repairs
• Revamp and maintain pump stations and related utility infrastructure
Electrical & Control Systems
• Maintain and troubleshoot 240/480V electrical control panels
• Service well motors and AC/DC control systems
• Assist with diagnosing equipment and control system issues using SCADA information
Work Orders & Documentation
• Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
• Review work orders for priority, completeness, and accuracy
• Complete maintenance documentation using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Submit material and equipment requisitions as required
Safety & Operations
• Follow all company safety procedures and participate in confined space entry operations
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting, and equipment handling
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions
• Ability to safely perform confined space work when required
