PositionSummary:

The Nutrition Resource Specialistis responsible forproviding high-quality program support across SMAAs Home Delivered Meals (HDM) and Congregate Meal sites. This includes conducting assessments,determiningeligibility, linking clients to needed resources, coordinating daily meal operations, managing inventory, and supporting volunteers. This role ensures consistent, client-centered service delivery across all Nutrition sites and works collaboratively with the Nutrition Manager, Resource Specialists across locations, volunteers, and community partners. This role will be full-time with 30 hours per week dedicated to the Windham meal site and congregate meal programs and 10 hours per week dedicated to Kezar Falls area MOW assessments/home visits and Veterans' Direct Care.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Client Assessment & Resource Navigation

  • Conduct thorough assessments using standardized tools, interviews, and observation techniques within required timelines.
  • Explain assessment processes clearly and compassionately with clients.
  • Ensure assessments meet all regulatory and SMAA policy standards.
  • Identifyneeds and provide linkages to internal and external resources; escalate referrals whenadditionalintervention iswarranted.
  • Maintainaccurate,timelydocumentation in SMAA databases.

Nutrition Program Operations

  • Coordinate daily site operations for Home Delivered and Congregate Meals, including meal ordering, packing, delivery coordination, and daily workflow scheduling.
  • Supportaccuratemeal counts, route preparation, and service logs.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and sanitary kitchen and dining environment.
  • Serve as a consistent on-site point of contact for clients, staff, volunteers, and facility partners.

Inventory & Supplies Management

  • Manage food inventory, supplies, equipment, and packing materials.
  • Track stock levels and communicate replenishment needs proactively.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with compliance standards and program requirements.

Volunteer Engagement

  • Support Volunteer Services with volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and recognition.
  • Provide daily support and direction to volunteers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages volunteer satisfaction and retention.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Coordinate with the Nutrition Manager and other Resource Specialists to ensure consistency across sites.
  • Maintain productive relationships with property management at assigned sites, reporting concerns promptly.
  • Participate in Nutrition Team meetings, SMAA trainings, and agency-wide initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage for other Nutrition sites as needed.
  • Respond to phone calls, email inquiries, and client needs promptly.
  • Perform all duties in alignment with SMAAs values, safety practices, and strategic goals.

Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs other position-specific duties as assigned.


Experience and Skill Requirements:The following requirements and skills are considered essential:

  • At least three years of closely related experience, including experience working with older adults, working with volunteers, and supervisory experience.
  • Ability to manage a community-based program that includes direct services as well as collaborative activities with other agency programs and community partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both in writing and verbally, to deal persuasively and tactfully with clients, staff, volunteers, and the public.
  • Excellent training and observation skills.
  • Strong ability to motivate and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong technical skills that include working with computers and online capability.
  • Access to reliable transportation.

Education/Knowledge Requirements: The following education requirements are considered essential:

  • High school diplomarequired; associate or bachelors degree in nutrition, social services, human services, or related field preferred.

Salary and Benefits:This is a non-exempt position, working 40 hours per week Monday-Friday, with an hourly rate of $21.00.
