Job Description

The Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental (SSHE) Specialist supports site operations by implementing and maintaining safety, environmental, and risk management programs. This role provides subject matter expertise in one or more SSHE disciplines and works closely with field teams to promote safe and compliant operations.

The SSHE Specialist influences site personnel through strong operational knowledge, effective communication, and collaboration across diverse teams. This position plays a key role in hazard identification, risk mitigation, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement of safety performance.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of safety, health, environmental, and security processes, procedures, and programs.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and project requirements.
  • Promote workforce engagement and participation in safety and risk management practices.
  • Identify potential hazards and SSHE-related issues and facilitate timely resolution.
  • Participate in contractor qualification processes and safety evaluations.
  • Review and provide input on procedures, manuals, and safety documentation.
  • Manage, inspect, and maintain safety-critical equipment (e.g., fire response, spill response, gas detection, and life-saving equipment).
  • Support emergency preparedness activities, including drills and response planning.
  • Coordinate with emergency response teams during incidents and assist in managing response efforts.
  • Conduct or support incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Perform risk assessments and support hazard management strategies.
  • Monitor field activities to ensure safe work practices and adherence to established procedures.
  • Collaborate with operations and project teams to improve safety performance and operational integrity.

Skills and Qualifications

Required

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in safety, health, environmental, or related roles (preferably within industrial or energy sectors).
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, environmental compliance, and risk management practices.
  • Familiarity with emergency preparedness and response processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in oil & gas, manufacturing, or other industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems and operational integrity frameworks.
  • Experience working in multicultural or diverse team environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships across teams and stakeholders.

Job Details

Location: Williston, ND
Schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off, 12 hrs per day
Compensation: $66 per hour
