The Village of Great Neck Plaza is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Clerk-Treasurer.
The primary responsibilities for this position are:
Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Village office.
Responsible for all financial aspects of the Village (i.e. accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll). Prepare annual budget and all financial reports, including monthly bank reconciliations, and required Federal and State reporting. Provide financial reports to the Mayor and Board of Trustees. Adjust budget lines and handle budget transfers as needed and perform bank transfers. Serve as the Village’s Assessor and prepare and oversee the collection of property taxes. Work with the Village’s financial advisor and bond counsel on the issuance of the Village’s bonds and pay down of the debt service. File and monitor grant applications, track expenses, and file for reimbursement.
Work with the Village’s auditors in preparation of annual independent audit and the filing of the annual audit with the New York State Comptroller.
Responsible for Human Resources. Process all necessary transactions and reporting for Nassau County Civil Service, New York State Retirement System and the New York State Health Insurance Program. Serve as management’s liaison for negotiations with the Public Works union.
Attend and prepare the agenda for the Village Board of Trustee meetings. Prepare and publish public hearing notices and file local laws.
Serve as the Village’s election officer and administer the Village elections.
Compensation commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental and vision insurance, NYS retirement, NYS deferred compensation plan, vacation, sick leave, and paid holidays.
College or graduate degree preferred. Several years of relevant experience also preferred, but will consider candidates for degrees in relevant fields in the Spring of 2025.
