Job Description

We are seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors (all levels) in various locations within NYSDOT Region 8.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Observation of contractor operations for roadway/bridge construction projects
Prepare and maintain daily reports including description of contractor work activities, labor and equipment identification and quantity, and perform various measurements for payment.
Gather data and measurements to be used in the completion of checklists and quality assurance of various construction activities.
Ensure contractor’s work is in compliance with the Contract Plans and Specifications.
·Other related duties and tasks as required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or NICET certification
Computer Proficiency
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to read plans and specifications.
Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time
Must be authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

· NYSDOT and/or locally administered Federal Aid project experience preferred.
· Experience with APPIA and/or Site Manager software.
· OSHA 10

Physical Requirements:

The position requires individuals to work in potentially dangerous surroundings, sometimes in inclement weather conditions including rain.

This position may require the regular operation of a motor-vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.

Licenses/ Certifications:

NICET Certification/pending certification or NICET equivalent experience/education required.
·Valid Class D Driver’s license required.
