An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse experienced in operating room settings, focusing on a variety of surgical specialties including general OR, bariatrics, ENT, neurology, orthopedics, and urology lines. This position is contract-based and located in Washington, DC, offering an engaging setting in a high-acuity hospital environment. The role is designed for an evening shift with 12-hour shifts from 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM, working three days per week.
Responsibilities:
- Provide perioperative nursing care in multiple surgical disciplines, including total joint replacement, spine surgeries, craniotomies, free flaps, cytoreduction, bariatrics, and ENT/OMF procedures.
- Float within surgical units of equivalent or lesser acuity as required, supporting a dynamic clinical environment.
- Participate in on-call rotations, with approximately six call shifts every six weeks.
- Fulfill weekend shift requirements, working one weekend per six-week cycle.
- Maintain compliance with facility requirements, including mandatory flu vaccination.
- Adhere to scrub color guidelines and other institutional policies.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with a valid DC nursing license or pending DC license status (proof of pending status required at submission; license must be obtained before start).
- Minimum of two years of operating room nursing experience.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work across various surgical specialties and float between units as needed.
- Skilled in supporting complex surgical procedures such as total joints, spine, craniotomy, and bariatric surgeries.
