About the Opportunity
A global leader in precision manufacturing is seeking a Controls Engineering Manager to oversee machine control system projects from concept through customer acceptance. This mid-level leadership role blends technical design, project coordination, and light team supervision—perfect for a controls engineer ready to take the next step toward management without losing the hands-on engineering connection.
You’ll guide a small team of 2–3 engineers and technicians, work closely with senior leadership, and play a key role in the integration, testing, and installation of advanced machine tools and automation systems.
Key Responsibilities

Supervise and mentor a small team of controls engineers and technicians, ensuring project timelines and quality standards are met.

Oversee controls hardware and software design for complex machine systems, collaborating with electrical and mechanical teams.

Develop and implement PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and motion control integration (Siemens and/or Allen Bradley).

Coordinate system commissioning, debugging, and machine runoff both in-house and at customer sites.

Review and approve electrical and pneumatic schematics, bills of materials, and wiring layouts.

Work with project management to ensure proper documentation, scheduling, and cost awareness.

Serve as a key technical liaison between engineering, build, and customer service teams.

Promote and enforce safety, quality, and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.

5+ years of experience in controls design, automation systems, or machine tool industry.

1–3 years of supervisory or project leadership experience preferred.

Strong understanding of industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, Canbus).

Experience with EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical preferred.

Proficiency with Siemens Step 7, TIA Portal, WinCC, or Allen Bradley Studio 5000.

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and multitasking skills.

Willingness to travel occasionally for customer installations or troubleshooting.
