Pharmacist in Charge (PIC)
Location: Tamarac, FL
Schedule: 4 days per week (candidate may select preferred days), 8:30 AM to 5:45 PM
Compensation: $60 per hour
Benefits: 2 weeks PTO, $50/month cellphone allowance
About the Role
Our client is seeking a licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to oversee daily pharmacy operations in Tamarac. This role combines hands-on pharmacist responsibilities with leadership and regulatory oversight, ensuring safe medication practices, operational efficiency, and full compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations. The PIC will serve as the primary pharmacy leader, supporting staff, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining accountability for overall pharmacy performance.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Operational Oversight
- Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, safety, and completeness.
- Dispense medications and provide clear instructions to patients and caregivers.
- Monitor for drug interactions, contraindications, and appropriate dosing.
- Answer patient and provider questions regarding medications, usage, and potential side effects.
Leadership & Compliance
- Serve as the designated Pharmacist in Charge responsible for regulatory compliance and pharmacy operations.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee proper storage, handling, and security of medications and controlled substances.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation standards are consistently met.
- Support and guide pharmacy staff to maintain high standards of patient care and operational excellence.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain oversight of pharmacy workflows, inventory control, and daily operations.
- Ensure all licensing, inspections, and compliance requirements are maintained.
- Collaborate with pharmacy staff and healthcare providers to support efficient patient care.
- Identify operational improvements and support process optimization when needed.
Qualifications
- Active Pharmacist license in the state of Florida (required).
- Ability to serve as Pharmacist in Charge under Florida regulations.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, compliance standards, and medication safety practices.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while overseeing pharmacy operations.
