This position is for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired serving a K-12 school in OFallon, MO. This contract role spans the school year and involves part-time hours of 8 to 10 hours per week, typically one to one and a half days weekly. The teacher will provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, fostering their academic growth and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to approximately 4 students with visual impairments, tailoring educational plans to meet individual needs.
- Provide consultative support to 4 additional students, collaborating with classroom teachers and staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion.
- Conduct 504 consult services for 1 student, ensuring accommodations are effectively implemented.
- Monitor student progress, maintain records, and communicate regularly with families and school personnel.
- Adapt materials and utilize assistive technology to support student learning.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired is essential.
- Knowledge of specialized instructional strategies and assistive technology relevant to students with visual impairments.
- Ability to collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Appropriate licensure or certification in visual impairment education.
