Financial Controller (6-Month Assignment, Potential to Convert)
Congers, NY (Onsite)
A leading provider of two-way radio equipment and services, with offices across NY and CT, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its leadership team on a 6-month contract assignment with potential to convert to permanent. The company proudly services public safety, commercial, and industrial clients and is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the safety and vibrancy of the communities it serves. This is a high-impact role reporting directly to the CFO, offering the opportunity to oversee all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls while providing strategic insights to support the company’s growth.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the finance department, including accounting, financial reporting, receivables, billing, payables, disbursements, payroll, and tax compliance.

Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and operational procedures.

Oversee treasury functions, including cash management, wire transfers, and bank borrowings.

Prepare journal entries, management reports, and quarterly/annual financial statements.

Manage accounting systems (QuickBooks or similar) and maintain the chart of accounts.

Provide leadership and mentorship to finance staff, including hiring, training, and supervision.

Partner with senior management to deliver insights that guide operations, budgeting, and business strategy.

Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and outsourcing partners for tax, payroll, and compliance.

Oversee contracts, vendor relationships, and business insurance (auto, workers comp, liability, etc.).

Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Qualifications
-
Minimum 10+ years of accounting experience, with proven supervisory/leadership responsibilities.

Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards.

Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).

Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting systems.

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
