Immediately hiring an Interim Controller for a highly reputable, international nonprofit with over $120m in revenue. This is a fully remote role, approximately 3+ months in duration. The Interim Controller will work closely with the VP of Finance to oversee all aspects of accounting, internal and external financial reporting, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Nonprofit industry experience
  • Proficiency in NetSuite is highly preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation of accounting, including cash, revenue, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings
  • Assist the VP of Finance in creating and implementing standardized accounting processes and enhancing automation
  • Develop timely and accurate financial reports in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Maintain all internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program expenditures
  • Create a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual for accounting policy and regulations, and roll out reconciliation procedures
  • Assist the annual budgeting process by coordinating, preparing, and reviewing the annual budgets
  • Compile budget vs. actual reports, identify, explain, and correct variances as needed
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local protocols, including legal requirements, and interpret new and existing legislation
  • Maintain oversight of banking activities
  • Review, analyze, and determine causes of any inaccuracies in financial records and prepare correcting entries
  • Oversee grants accounting; ensure that expenditures consistently align with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period and that required reports are submitted timely
  • Monitor and manage organizational cash flow
