Role: Oil Measurement Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Oil Measurement Technician to join our field operations team in the Permian Basin. This position is critical to ensuring accurate measurement of oil volumes, supporting production integrity, and maintaining compliance with both state and federal regulations across our assets. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical skills, keen attention to detail, and a preferred working knowledge of crude oil measurement standards and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine oil sampling and meter readings to verify production and sales volumes.
  • Conduct meter proving and calibrations on LACT units and flow meters in accordance with API standards and company procedures.
  • Install, inspect, and maintain measurement equipment, including Coriolis meters, PD meters, temperature/pressure transmitters, and automated tank systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve measurement discrepancies, working with operations and engineering teams to ensure timely resolution.
  • Accurately document and report measurement data in field systems and back-office software.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory and internal measurement standards for state and federal audits and inspections.
  • Collaborate with field personnel, third-party haulers, and measurement leadership to support production and ensure volume accuracy.
  • Follow and enforce safety and environmental policies in all field activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age; 21 or older preferred (subject to vendor requirements).
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings in harsh, remote West Texas field environments/climates.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with oilfield measurement practices and API MPMS standards.
  • Oil or gas measurement or production operations experience.
  • Experience with Coriolis meters, PD meters, PTs, RTDs, automated valves, VFDs, LACT units, PLCs (Total Flow Systems, ROC), SCADA systems, automated tank monitoring, and other related device programs.
  • Allocation Measurement and/or Production Lease Operator experience.
  • Familiarity with oil field operations and measurement procedures.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulatory compliance (e.g., BLM, TRRC, EPA).

Location: Permian Basin, New Mexico, South Texas, Pecos, etc.

Compensation: $27-34/hr (W2)

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday (40 hrs min, 50 hrs max per week)
  • Rotating On Call schedule required: Saturday – Wednesday one week per month
