SENIOR CONSULTANT JOB INTRODUCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Consultant is joining a collaborative team of forensics experts – some of the most talented in the industry.

This is a hybrid position requiring in-office (Georgetown, DC) and remote work capability.

The Senior Consultant role blends hands-on forensics expertise, evidence/lab oversight, and client-facing project leadership. This person is expected to work collaboratively with the junior team members on the evidence intake and lab management responsibilities. As an experienced member of the team, you will also be expected to support project work in the areas of forensic data collections (on-site and remote), data extraction, and analysis.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as a go-to resource for on-site and remote collections and analysis from a variety of electronic media, including desktops, laptops, cell phones, tablets, etc.
  • Contribute to the organization’s evidence management processes including staging, hygiene, disposition, and drive inventory
  • Guide junior team members in best practices across evidence management, documentation, and collections
  • Create and maintain appropriate documentation such as chain of custody and tasks in iDS’ project management tool
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders on data collection, analysis, and evidence
  • Participate in pre-sales calls and scoping calls as the solutions architect
  • Maintain inventory control procedures for all evidence, including release, destruction, and documentation
  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate workflows and improve data storage and retrieval processes

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in team and company meetings on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Submit timely and accurate timesheets in accordance with preset deadlines
  • May be asked to perform other duties not listed in this job description as required by business needs.

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in Digital Forensics, or equivalent practical experience
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience collecting and analyzing forensic data; professional services experience strongly preferred
  • Advanced understanding and application of forensic tools such as EnCase, FTK, NUIX
  • Proven ability to collect and analyze data from various media including: desktops, laptops, tablets, cell phones, social media, etc
  • Proven track record of fostering individual and team growth through effective mentoring and coaching
  • Experience maintaining consistent and appropriate documentation such as Chain of Custody (CoC) and tasks in project management tools.
  • Certification preferred (e.g., EnCE, GCFE, CFCE, CCE)

  • Possess impeccable problem solving, reasoning and analytical skills with a solid understanding of core project management principles, particularly in providing litigation support services
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, effectively managing many details
  • Ability to interact with diplomacy and tact while maintaining appropriate assertiveness and persistence
  • Positive attitude with a desire and willingness to solve problems
  • The ability to seek out answers in the absence of formal direction
  • Flexibility regarding work schedule to meet position needs outside of regular business hours
  • Individuals must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without an accommodation

Working Location & Conditions:

  • Hybrid; In-office in Georgetown, DC
  • Must be available to travel (local and non-local) when business needs require
  • Home office should be a quiet and professional space that can be used for virtual meetings (that include video as needed) and maintain client confidentiality.

iDS prides itself on providing a comprehensive compensation package that includes base salary, charge-hour incentive program, and competitive benefits. The salary range for a Senior Consultant is $125,000 - $140,000 depending on experience. Consultants are eligible for a charge-hour incentive program (CHIP) bonus should you meet the utilization requirements. iDS offers a robust PPO health care plan where the company contributes 75% of the premium. More details will be provided during the interview process.
