Please note the Patient Registration Specialist role is an onsite role, with multiple openings including day shift, mid shift, and overnight shifts.
Position Summary:
As a Patient Registration Specialist, you will be an integral part of the front-line patient services team. You will greet, register, and provide assistance to patients during their healthcare journey. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates exceptional communication skills, and embodies a commitment to outstanding patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and billing information.
- Register new and returning patients, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the first point of contact, providing friendly and professional interactions to create a welcoming environment.
- Manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, and patient check-ins/check-outs.
- Handle patient inquiries regarding billing, insurance, and general healthcare services.
- Maintain and secure confidentiality of patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and address any scheduling conflicts or changes.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in healthcare administration or related field is a plus.
- Prior experience in patient registration, medical front office, or customer service within the healthcare industry.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and billing processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., EPIC, Cerner).
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality standards.
