A material handler is responsible for the movement, storage, and management of materials within a warehouse, production facility, or other industrial environment. Their primary duties include loading and unloading goods, organizing inventory, and preparing shipments. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of products and supplies throughout the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities

Loading and Unloading: Use equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move materials from trucks, containers, or other vehicles.

Inventory Management: Organize and store materials in designated areas, ensuring accurate inventory counts and proper rotation of stock. This includes using inventory management systems to track and log materials.

Order Picking and Packing: Accurately pull items from stock to fulfill customer orders or production requests. They may also be responsible for packing and labeling items for shipment.

Quality Control: Inspect materials for any damage or defects upon arrival or before shipment and report any issues to a supervisor.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all materials handled, including logging receipts, transfers, and shipments.

Safety and Maintenance: Operate all equipment safely and perform routine checks and maintenance. They must also follow all company safety policies and procedures.
