Job Summary: The Mail Clerk will be responsible for handling the daily mail operations at Mease Countryside Hospital, ensuring timely and accurate processing, sorting, and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail. This position plays a key role in maintaining efficient communication and document flow throughout the hospital while adhering to organizational policies and confidentiality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, sort, and distribute incoming mail, packages, and interoffice correspondence.
- Prepare and process outgoing mail, including postage, shipping labels, and courier deliveries.
- Operate mailroom equipment such as postage meters, scanners, and copiers.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of mail to various hospital departments.
- Maintain mail logs, records, and documentation as required.
- Handle confidential or sensitive documents in compliance with hospital policies.
- Assist with bulk mailings, special deliveries, and other mailroom projects as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe mailroom environment.
- Communicate effectively with staff, vendors, and courier services.
- Support other administrative or clerical functions as directed by the supervisor.
Required Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling mail and documentation.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with office equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and carry mailbags, boxes, and packages (up to 30 lbs).
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Skills: Prior experience in mailroom operations, clerical work, or a healthcare environment preferred. Knowledge of postage systems and shipping carriers (e.g., USPS, FedEx, UPS) is a plus.
