Summary: The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all inbound and outbound shipments while leading and supporting the shipping and receiving team. This role ensures timely, accurate, and safe movement of materials, compliance with customer and company requirements, and effective communication across departments.
Essential Functions
- Supervise and coordinate daily shipping and receiving operations, including workload planning and staff assignments
- Lead, coach, train, and develop shipping and receiving employees
- Conduct employee evaluations and performance reviews
- Approve employee time and attendance
- Communicate effectively with Production, Sales, and Logistics to ensure on-time shipments
- Ensure all customer packing, marking, and shipping requirements are followed
- Monitor shipping schedules and resolve issues quickly to avoid delays
- Audit shipments for accuracy, quality, and compliance
- Manage inventory accuracy and resolve discrepancies
- Document material movement through the company’s transfer and inventory systems
- Utilize computers, scanners, and mobile devices to pull, track, and process parts
- Perform and oversee palletizing, shrink wrapping, banding, and labeling of shipments
- Safely operate and oversee the use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping and receiving area
- Ensure all H-J policies, procedures, and safety protocols are followed
- Share ideas and recommendations to support continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of lead or supervisory experience in a shipping and receiving environment
- Knowledge of domestic and international logistics preferred
- Forklift and pallet jack experience required
- Strong computer skills and experience with inventory or shipping systems
- Ability to read and interpret work orders and shipping documentation
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Education Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer or on the warehouse floor
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed
- Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment
Shift Details
2nd Shift is M-TH, 4X10hr shifts, 3:00 pm – 1:30 am.All employees are expected to work overtime hours as needed.Overtime is typically twice a month on Fridays and are 8-hour shifts.
