Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience required
  • Recent PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience within the last 3 years required

Required Certifications

  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • NIHSS

Preferred Certifications

  • PALS
  • TCAR

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse to provide care for patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring and treatment. The unit cares for a mixed-acuity patient population including PCU, Medical-Surgical Telemetry, post-surgical, trauma, orthopedic, and medical patients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing monitoring
  • Care for patients requiring telemetry and progressive care services
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias
  • Administer medications, blood products, and specialty infusions
  • Manage heparin protocols, insulin drips, and cardiac drips
  • Provide care for patients with respiratory, neurological, cardiac, renal, surgical, and trauma-related conditions
  • Manage central lines, PICC lines, ports, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and other specialized devices
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communication using established protocols
  • Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality standards

  • Post-Myocardial Infarction care
  • IV insulin protocols and insulin drip management
  • Heparin protocols

  • Blood product administration
  • Central line, PICC line, and port management
  • Peripheral IV insertion and maintenance
  • Feeding tube management
  • Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
  • Renal failure management
  • Stroke (CVA) care
  • Seizure management
  • Substance withdrawal management
  • Orthopedic and trauma care
  • Chest tube management
  • Tracheostomy care
  • CPAP/BiPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • ABG interpretation
  • Wound care and wound vacuum management
  • Isolation precautions
