JOB GRADE 12: $61,397.42 - $76,746.78 Targeted Annual Salary

JOB SUMMARY:

This employee is responsible for assisting the Commercial Loan Department with the analysis of financial information provided by businesses and/or individuals to assess the overall credit worthiness and risk associated with new and existing commercial and business loans. The commercial credit analyst prepares loan presentations documenting findings and recommends terms, conditions, and loan structure according to lending regulations and State ECU's policies and procedures. Performs periodic reviews of commercial loans considering borrower's financial condition, collateral, market trends and other pertinent information to properly assess risk. Keeps abreast of financial and market trends impacting the portfolio. Reports findings and recommendations to management.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Take a lead role in the analysis of commercial credit applications and related operations.
  • Responsible for evaluating a borrower's capacity to pay, capital position, economic trends and forecasts in mitigating loan-risk, identifying special risk based on the unique needs of the borrower and the loan, and making recommendations through underwriting to effectively manage commercial credit risk for the organization.
  • Compile, prepare, and present memos for loan requests, renewals, and reviews.
  • Prepare cash flow analysis of personal and business tax returns and financial statements.
  • Prepare and submit commercial loan requests for approval.
  • Maintain and review commercial loan reports.
  • Collect financial documentation for annual reviews and renewals.
  • Review loan reports provided by management for accuracy.
  • Keeps abreast of local and national economic, financial, political and legislative events and climates which could have an impact on commercial lending activities.
  • Ensure the Credit Union provides high quality services to its members in lending and related areas.
  • Participates in any other activities deemed necessary to further support the lending functions of State Employees Credit Union.
  • Ensures that all Credit Union policies and procedures are followed, comply with all applicable laws, regulations and have strong working knowledge of procedures.
  • Understands compliance issues and attends training as they relate to Commercial Credit Analysis, including, but not limited to Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC, Bank Secrecy Act; Reg P; Patriot Act.
  • Report all suspicious activity to the BSA Compliance Officer, and following policy/procedure as it pertains to the job responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal relationship/communication skills and attention to detail required.
  • Advanced knowledge in the review of commercial credit applications and borrower capacity to pay.
  • Extensive experience with accounting, financial statements, cash flow, and borrower-risk analysis.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experienced in the appraisal and underwriting of commercial loan
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Travel - As Required

Education/Experience:

  • Education or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, in addition to 1 to 3 plus years of relevant experience.
