Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a team in Livermore, California for an on-site Contract position. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented finance specialist who can step in quickly and manage key accounting activities with accuracy and confidence. The role centers on supporting the monthly close process, producing financial reports, and maintaining strong control over reconciliations and payables.
Responsibilities:
• Lead month-end accounting activities, including reviewing the general ledger and completing timely account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and ensure reporting is accurate, organized, and ready for internal review.
• Reconcile bank accounts and investigate variances to maintain clean and reliable financial records.
• Record and review journal entries, accruals, and other closing adjustments in support of the accounting cycle.
• Oversee accounts payable activities by auditing invoices, confirming proper approvals, and processing payments.
• Use accounting software and advanced Excel skills to analyze financial data, support reporting, and improve accuracy.
• Partner with colleagues across the team to address accounting issues, meet deadlines, and maintain an efficient close process.• Proven experience in a Senior Accountant or similar accounting role.
• Strong background in month-end close, general ledger maintenance, and journal entry preparation.
• Hands-on experience with account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations.
• Ability to prepare monthly financial statements with a high level of accuracy.
• Experience reviewing accounts payable transactions and coordinating payment processing.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, reporting, and data management.
• Familiarity with accounting software systems and the ability to learn internal tools quickly.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, organization, and flexibility in a team-oriented environment.
