SITE SAFETY AND HEALTH OFFICER (SSHO) ONSITE
This position will be responsible for providing Site Safety and Health on a construction site at JBER, Alaska. The position requires, at a minimum, the following:
- Conduct site safety briefings on new hires.
- Conduct weekly Project Safety Meetings.
- Prepare and implement Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for project specific tasks.
- Provide necessary training to employees in accordance with OSHA regulations.
- Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log.
- Observe personnel and operations for possible safety concerns.
- Conduct accident and injury investigations and complete required reports/forms.
- Communicate with Project Management regarding compliance and safety including feedback to management relative to job site compliance.
- Monitoring all heavy industrial construction work for compliance with safety requirements.
- Implementation and oversight of the Project Specific Safety Program including the Project Specific Safety Manual and Accident Prevention Plan requirements.
- Ensure sub-contractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
- Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- 30 HOURS OSHA Construction Safety Class within the last 5 years.
- 5 years’ continuous field experience in a similar role.
- Average of at least 8 hours of formal safety training each year for the last 5 years.
- Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
- Must be able to meet deadlines and contribute to a positive, safe, high-quality culture.
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Certification as a Safety Professional is required.
OTHER
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient skill Level in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- USACE RMS experience highly desirable.
- Valid state driver’s license / Passport for Base Access.
- Ability to successfully pass background/security checks for base and project access.
