We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team. This role involves the assembly of large diesel and natural gas engines, utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, electrical testing equipment, and lifting devices/cranes. The successful candidate will manipulate engine components during the assembly process and learn the technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines. This position is not a basic assembly line role; we are looking for individuals with serious mechanical aptitude.
Responsibilities
- Assemble massive diesel and natural gas engines according to custom specifications.
- Utilize tools such as torque wrenches, pneumatic air power tools, and DC tooling.
- Interpret blueprints and work instructions to perform assembly tasks.
- Troubleshoot and repair in-process engines.
- Ensure quality and accuracy in assembling hundreds of sub-assemblies.
- Document processes and progress using a computer
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in an industrial environment, working with hands.
- Proven experience using mechanical tooling such as torque equipment, DC tools, and hand tools.
- Mid-level mechanical aptitude.
- Experience following written work instructions, SOPs, and blueprints.
- Ability to pass written and hands-on assessments during the training period.
Available Shifts & Pay
- 1st Shift: 6:30AM-2:30PM
- 2nd Shift: 2:30PM-10:30PM
- 3rd Shift: 10:30PM-6:30AM.
- Weekend 1st Shift: 6AM-6PM (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- Weekend 3rd Shift: 6PM-6AM (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- $21.34 with shift differentials for off shifts

Work Environment
The work environment includes a temperature-controlled manufacturing facility divided into an assembly side and a machine shop. Our dress code is relaxed, allowing sweatshirts, t-shirts, and hats. Safety is a top priority, with mandatory PPE including steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses. The campus is tobacco-free, with designated areas for breaks. Shifts include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, with specific hours and pay rates, and the possibility of overtime.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, Indiana.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.34 - $22.09/hr.
