Founded in 1975, Child Health Associates, P.C. has a long history of providing innovative, high quality medical care to the children of the Detroit metropolitan area. Our doctors are board certified M.D. pediatricians who work out of offices in both Troy and Novi.


Our practice employs cutting edge technology including electronic medical records, direct to pharmacy prescription requests, and a HIPAA secure website.


Medical Assistants play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our medical facility. The primary responsibilities will include assisting healthcare professionals and maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients.


Successful medical assistant candidates will perform the following:

  • Meet patient in assigned exam room once they are checked in, introduce yourself to parent and patient, explain what may be expected or needed during that particular visit
  • Collect information, labs and vitals pertinent for each visit
  • Prepare charts/billing sheets in advance to anticipate patient needs when in office such as labs and immunizations needed, provide parents with appropriate documents/education materials
  • Provide any supportive care needed while patient is in office such as nebulizer treatments
  • Update patient immunization records, enter previous immunizations and vitals when needed
  • Administer medications/immunizations according as requested
  • Stock exam rooms at the beginning or end of day
  • Disinfect exam room before and after each patient
  • Take inventory on all lab and exam room supplies at least once per week
  • Log and ensure appropriate temps for refrigerator and freezer every morning and afternoon
  • Clean HBG machine insert and test glutaraldehyde with Metricide strip
  • Change glutaraldehyde solutions
  • Complete and record quality controls for UA, Lipid, lead and other machines as required
  • Call appropriate labs for courier pick up
  • Give copies lab requisition forms to nurses for follow up
  • Assist assigned physician with labs, specimen collection, procedures, immunizations, etc.
  • Log test results in the in-house lab binder(s) and in patient chart
  • Prepare labels and requisition forms for external labs
  • Keep Material Safety Data Sheets current and up to date
  • Calibrate necessary equipment in accordance with company policy (scales, temp loggers, etc.)
  • Maintain necessary training certificates (OSHAs bloodborne pathogens training)
  • Properly store and dispose of medical/hazardous waste
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may change, and new ones may be added, at any time with or without advanced notice

Skills/Qualifications required:

  • Display professionalism and time management skills
  • Possess a high school diploma
  • 6-12 months of medical assistant experience; in a pediatricians office is preferred.
