NEG is recruiting a Certified Early Childhood Teacher to lead a toddler classroom. The Lead Teacher is responsible and accountable for everything that happens in the classroom. The Lead Teacher will design and maintain an attractive, orderly learning environment suitable to each child’s development while planning and presenting age appropriate activities for children.. The Lead Teacher reports to the Education Director.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
- Maintains awareness of all program policies and procedures; helps with implementing these policies within the classroom.
- Maintains alertness to the physical health of each child. Conducts health check each morning.
- Writes daily reports and weekly lesson plan with team.
- Maintain awareness of and alert to any situation which might indicate a concern for children abuse or neglect.
- Shares with staff the routine responsibilities required in the care of young children, including changing diapers
- Develops and maintains a safe and healthy learning environment for children.
- Children’s development status must be screened within 45 days of entering the program.
- Works in all areas of the classroom with individual children and with small or large groups of children.
- Assists in assuring the safe condition of classroom and playground equipment.
- Assists in the orientation of all volunteers, substitutes and students assigned to work in the classroom.
- Supervises all staff and volunteers working within the classroom.
- Conducts annual evaluation for all staff in the classroom.
- Handles concerns of individual staff in classroom.
Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree in early childhood or a related field of study approved by the Department (required) and valid certification issued by the State Education Department (Birth-Grade 2).
- Baccalaureate degree in early childhood education (required) or a related field and a written study plan approved by an accredited college or university for obtaining early childhood (Birth-Grade 2) certification.
- Master’s degree in early childhood and Birth-Grade 2 certification.
- Classroom teaching experience required; 2 years preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Mandated Reporter training is mandatory.
- Submit to background check.
