Job Title: Clinical Director (Registered Nurse)
Reports To: Executive Director / Chief Nursing Officer / Chief Operating Officer
FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary
The Clinical Director, RN, provides strategic and operational leadership for all clinical services within the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and continuous clinical improvement. The Clinical Director oversees nursing and clinical staff, establishes clinical policies and procedures, and collaborates with executive leadership to support organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Oversight
- Provide leadership and direction for all clinical programs and nursing services
- Ensure delivery of safe, effective, and evidence-based patient care
- Monitor clinical outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing and clinical staff
Staff Management & Development
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate clinical and nursing staff
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and skill mix
- Support ongoing education, competency assessments, and professional development
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations
- Maintain readiness for surveys, audits, and accreditation reviews
- Develop, implement, and review clinical policies, procedures, and protocols
- Monitor adherence to clinical standards, infection control, and safety practices
Operations & Administration
- Collaborate with leadership on budgeting, resource allocation, and strategic planning
- Analyze clinical data and reports to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and organizational committees
- Support risk management and incident review processes
Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as liaison between clinical staff, administration, and external partners
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and stakeholders
- Promote patient-centered care and satisfaction
Qualifications
Required
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required (MSN preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive clinical nursing experience
- At least 2–3 years in a leadership or management role
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and clinical best practices
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field
- Experience in quality improvement, accreditation, or program development
- Certification in nursing leadership or specialty area (e.g., NE-BC, CNL)
