Description\n

American Traveler is hiring a Maternal Fetal Ultrasound Technologist with OB/GYN and general ultrasound experience for a night shift contract at an acute care teaching hospital in Roanoke, VA.

  • 8-week contract in the Maternal Fetal Ultrasound department of a 703-bed acute care Magnet-designated teaching hospital
  • \n

  • The facility is the region's only Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatric) and hosts the region's only Maternal Fetal Medicine program integrated with a NICU
  • \n

  • Exams are interpreted by board-certified maternal fetal medicine specialists
  • \n

  • Night shifts, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, Friday through Sunday
  • \n

  • Backup call required as needed
  • \n

  • Charting via Epic (required)
  • \n

  • OB/GYN imaging across all trimesters, including fetal anatomical surveys, amniotic fluid index, and multiple pregnancies
  • \n

  • General abdominal imaging including liver, gallbladder, biliary tract, pancreas, spleen, and abdominal aorta
  • \n

  • Pediatric exams including appendicitis, intussusception, and pyloric stenosis
  • \n

  • Pelvic/genitourinary studies including bladder, ovaries, uterus, vaginal, and renal/bladder
  • \n

  • Small parts imaging including thyroid, testicles/scrotum, and superficial masses
  • \n

  • Vascular studies including aorta
  • \n

  • Adult and portable studies performed across work settings
  • \n

  • Floating required with variable shifts
  • \n

Requirements\n

    \n
  • ARDMS certification required
  • \n

  • BLS required
  • \n

  • Minimum of 1 year of ultrasound experience; first-time travelers considered with a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • \n

  • Proficiency in OB/GYN ultrasound required, including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimester imaging
  • \n

  • General ultrasound experience required
  • \n

  • Epic EMR experience required
  • \n

  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • \n

  • Trauma Level I or Level II experience preferred
  • \n

  • Pediatric exam experience preferred
  • \n

  • Active license required if applicable
  • \n

  • Copy of Driver's License and Social Security Card required for consideration
  • \n

  • Two professional references required for consideration
  • \n

  • Candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility (as determined by the address on their Driver's License) are considered local and are not eligible for this position
  • \n

  • Previous employees (per diem or permanent) must have been separated for a minimum of one year before returning as a traveler; travelers who have worked on assignment for 365 cumulative days are not eligible to return regardless of separation period, with exceptions reviewed on a case-by-case basis
  • \n

  • Must be available to work at least one holiday per assignment; two holidays required during the winter holiday period (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, and NYE/New Year's)
  • \n

  • All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of application
  • \n

  • Travelers may be called off up to 1 shift per 2-week period per facility policy
  • \n
