Responsibilities:
- Ability to work in a fast paced every changing group of businesses within the Aerospace Industry.
- Hands-on set-up of CNC machines to perform machining on customer products.
- Use prints, process sheets, and travelers to determine correct tooling and fixturing needs in the business.
- Work with engineers and operators on various shop improvement projects.
- Help manage and improve the company’s Tooling and Fixturing Database working with Engineering / Operational resources.
- Use sketches, blueprints, specifications, and models to plan operations for the machining of tools and assemblies, ensuring safety and maximum efficiency
- Programs, sets up, and operates tool room equipment including mills, lathes, and grinders
- Verify dimensions of finished parts to ensure they conform to specifications using dial indicators, gauge blocks, calipers, micrometers, CMM's, Optical Comparators, and other quality gages
- Utilize hand and machine tools to assemble parts of tools and to repair and modify gauges, and jigs
- Work collaboratively with other departments to assist in both product design and design for manufacturing
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and perform repairs on tools
- File and finish workpieces using the appropriate hand tools to ensure products are smooth and that they fit together properly
Requirements:
- Experience with SolidWorks and CAM packages preferred.
- Experience with Tooling and Fixturing a necessary skillset.
- Must be able to read customer drawings and sketches containing multiple views and sections.
- Must have the ability to accurately measure and perform all quality inspections throughout the process.
- Ability to use calipers, micrometers, surface table height gauges, dial indicators, gauge blocks and gauge pins.
- Manual CNC background required
- Experience working in an AS9100 environment a plus.
