POSITION OPENING
MS VOLLEYBALL COACH
(7th Grade)
Required Qualifications:
- Successful coaching experience, preferably at the middle school level.
- HPSD certified professional educators desired but not required. HPSD certified staff will be given first consideration (automatic interview).
- Alternate qualifications may be considered.
- Meet requirements for a background check and fingerprinting.
Job Requirements, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Background that includes a high level of volleyball knowledge.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of best practices in coaching.
- Experience working as part of a collaborative team.
- Candidates must be willing to meet all Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) course requirements and obtain current certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED usage.
A successful candidate will be able to:
- Relate to and instruct student athletes in large groups, small groups, and individualized settings.
- Develop and use strategies to improve individual and team play.
- Ability to work cooperatively with administration and staff.
- Ability to encourage student participation in the sport.
- Effectively utilize classroom discipline strategies while providing positive reinforcement.
- Possess strong organizational, motivational, discipline and fundamental teaching skills.
- Work with other coaches by supporting and encouraging students to participate in other sports.
- Able to communicate with players, parents, and other coaches.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure student success and a positive school climate.
Salary: As per negotiated district contract.
