A Day in the Life of a Substitute Teacher

(Serving Midland & Odessa, Texas)

• Work flexible days Monday–Friday; availability needed 7:30 AM–4:30 PM
  (Half-day shifts available: 7:30 AM–12 PM or 12 PM–4:30 PM)

• Follow and implement lesson plans to ensure a smooth learning experience

• Maintain a positive, productive, and inclusive classroom environment

• Adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners

• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and cafeterias

• Provide class assignments aligned with the provided lesson plan

• Long-term substitutes: collaborate with admin/teachers to develop instruction aligned with ongoing curriculum

Qualifications

(Midland & Odessa, Texas)

Preferred but not required:

• Associate degree or 60+ college hours

• Bachelor’s degree or teaching certification

• Previous experience as a substitute teacher

Required skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication

• Positive and professional interaction with students, parents, and staff

• Ability to lead, instruct, and manage students of all grade levels

• General knowledge across core subjects

• Ability to follow lesson plans and consult with admin when needed

• Flexibility, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills

• Commitment to maintaining a safe, engaging, and respectful classroom environment

Compensation & Perks

• $90–$120 per day (based on education and certification)
