Job Description
Job Description
Are you a ‘Postive People Person’ (who loves pets too)?
If so, please apply!
We have a position available for a Veterinary Receptionist in our busy animal hospital and we hope that you will be the person to join our team of friendly and kind people. The ideal candidate would be a person who smiles easily, has a good sense of humor and can lift the spirits of anyone she/he speaks to. You have been described as well-liked and happy by your peers and you have the desire to help people. Oh, and you love animals!
We need someone who has at least 1 year of experience working in a Veterinary Hospital because every day you learn something new in this field. Experience is valuable in this profession, whether it be volunteer or internship hours, so please apply if you have ever worked in a Veterinary Clinic.
As this position is for the reception it is essential that you have solid customer service skills and can speak with confidence and maturity. Given the demographic of the area we serve, it is also important that you speak Spanish. The description of being a 'people person' is particularly appropriate, so if your skills are solely computer based and you don't really like working with the general public then this job probably is not for you.
Often the receptionist will have to juggle multiple phone calls coming in at the same time, try to hear while a dog is barking in the background, and be asked a question by a co-worker all at once! Experience helps, but having the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure are essential skills. These qualities may be listed in every job posting, however the importance of these qualities should not be underestimated for this position. A good sense of humor is another essential quality, as is the ability to empathize and be a good listener.
I look forward to meeting you and I hope you are the perfect fit for our veterinary clinic!
