Job Title: Project Manager – Structural Steel & Fabrication

Location: Commerce, CA (Fully Onsite)

Type: Full-Time

About the Role:

A well-established structural and miscellaneous steel contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our in-house team in Commerce, CA. This position will oversee the planning and execution of steel fabrication and erection projects from start to finish. You'll coordinate with cross-functional teams including detailing, engineering, shop, and field crews. This is a fully onsite role with occasional job site walks as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage structural steel projects from contract award through completion
  • Coordinate with detailers, engineers, fabricators, and field crews to maintain schedules and quality standards
  • Interpret structural drawings, connection details, and shop drawings
  • Track submittals, change orders, RFI responses, material procurement, and delivery timelines
  • Liaise with general contractors, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders
  • Maintain project documentation and regularly report progress to leadership
  • Conduct occasional site walks and inspections to ensure safety and compliance
  • Ensure projects adhere to AISC standards and specifications

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience in structural and miscellaneous steel
  • Direct experience with steel fabrication and erection
  • AISC Certification required – strong understanding of AISC quality, safety, and procedural standards
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans, specifications, and shop drawings
  • Proficiency in MS Office and scheduling or construction management software
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple active projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred (not required)
