GENERAL PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to greet every guest with a smile, warm welcome and/or fond farewell, open the main door to the hotel, valet park cars, assist with luggage from vehicles to guestrooms and deliver any items the guest may request. This position is particularly important as it is the first and last impression the guest receives from our boutique hotel and proves to be highly lucrative with the right attitude and personality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Owns the front door by always being stationed outside at your post and owns the front drive by managing the flow of vehicles, traffic and ‘fronting’ vehicles as needed.

• Valet parks guest vehicles and provides assistance with loading and unloading luggage to and from vehicles and guestrooms.

• Greets and completes established arrival and departure procedures by welcoming guests to Municipal Grand hotel and providing a fond farewell.

• Delivers in-room amenities or guest-requested items by accommodating all guest requests.

• Maintains good customer relations by keeping abreast of all in-house and neighborhood functions in order to answer questions and concerns with timely and knowledgeable responses, in person and sometimes on the telephone.

• Maintains a friendly, professional and courteous demeanor at all times. A positive attitude is a must and anything less will not be tolerated.

• Ensures the entryway, front drive, sidewalks and lobby windows are clean and free of trash and debris at all times.

OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

•All doorpersons will be required to work varied shifts (i.e. 7am or 2pm, excluding overnights).

Performs other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge

• Must have high school graduate level mathematical aptitude and know standard cash handling procedures.

• Must have past experience in dealing directly with the public and acquired general knowledge of basic customer service skills.

• Must be fluent in oral and written English.

Skills

• Must have interpersonal skills including genuine engagement and charisma to make the guest feel valued.

• Must know how to drive manual transmission proficiently.

Abilities

• Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions, work on more than one task at a time, and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.

• Must be able to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations.

• Must be highly organized and able to pay attention to minute written and verbal details, particularly when performing multiple tasks.

Education/Formal Training

• High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience

• Customer Service experience preferred.

• Must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Environment

• Prolonged standing outdoors.
