Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring telemetry and neuro proficiency, with flexibility for weekend shifts.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a hospital-based Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Patient population includes CVA, hydrocephalus, brain tumors, resections, seizures, TBIs, trauma, GI surgeries, and large wound care
  • Staffing ratio is typically 1:3-4 patients
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 pm to 7:30 am
  • Must work approximately 50% of weekends during the contract
  • Floating to other units may include Med-Surg, PCU, ICU, and affiliate hospitals as needed
  • Cerner EMR charting required
  • Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned with training provided, subject to operational needs
  • Must be willing to precept or be assigned nursing students to shadow
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Locals are not accepted for this PCU position
  • Returning staff must have a 12-month break in employment before eligibility
  • Candidates are required to work 2 of the 3 major holidays during contract
  • Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) may be approved automatically

\n \n Requirements\n

  • Active IN or compact RN license required in hand for consideration
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA or RQI accepted)
  • Minimum of 18 months to 2 years PCU/Telemetry experience required
  • Proficiency with telemetry and neuro patient care required
  • Experience in management of drips required
  • Preferred skills: conscious sedation and Level 1 trauma experience
  • Graduate from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
