Our facilities function as Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs), offering:
- Long-term care for residents needing continuous skilled assistance and compassionate daily support.
- Short-term, sub-acute rehabilitation for individuals recovering from surgery, illness, or injury.
- Collaborative care through a team-oriented approach involving nursing, therapy, and medical professionals working in unison.
- A varied patient demographic that includes those with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and post-acute care needs.
The patient mix may differ slightly across facilities. As a therapy professional, you will play a crucial role in helping patients achieve functional improvements and enhance their quality of life in a supportive, patient-focused setting.
Position Overview
The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) delivers direct rehabilitation services in physical therapy to patients referred by a physician, under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT), in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements
- Completion of an accredited physical therapy program (ASPT).
- Current registration or licensure in the applicable state, with an obligation to maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
- Preferred: One (1) year of experience in a post-acute care or similar environment.
- CPR certification required upon hire or to be obtained during orientation, with the necessity to keep it current throughout employment.
Specific Job Responsibilities
- Engage in community health initiatives/projects as appropriate.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication.
- Coordinate with patients, families, and support departments to effectively address patient needs.
- Exhibit proper body mechanics consistently.
- Make independent decisions when necessary.
- Familiar with practices, procedures, and regulations governing operations in a post-acute care setting.
- Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrate proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, vendors, and others.
- Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and sensitive information.
- Adhere to organizational policies, including those related to harassment and compliance.
- Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following the organization’s Code of Conduct and completing mandatory training.
Essential Duties
- Implement physical therapy treatment plans as directed by the supervising PT.
- Document patient progress accurately and promptly.
- Utilize therapy software effectively and accurately.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive demeanor towards patients.
- Assist in the safe evacuation of patients when necessary.
- Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance.
- Employ reasoning skills and sound judgment in various situations.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during work hours.
- Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
