Senior Manager- Grant Management & Compliance

Full-Time 40 hours per week

M-F 8a-430p

$65,000-$75,000/Year

Job Summary

As our Senior Manager of Grants Management and Compliance, you will play a pivotal role in sustaining and expanding the funding that powers our mission. This is a high-impact leadership position that ensures our grant-funded programs are not only successful, but also compliant, efficient, and aligned with our values. You’ll work cross-functionally with Finance, Programs, Development, and external funders to drive excellence in grants management—from budgeting and compliance to reporting and audit readiness. You will lead with purpose, integrity, and a deep commitment to empowering the people and communities we serve.

Duties and Responsibilities

Grants Management

  • Lead the full lifecycle of grants: proposal budgeting, financial tracking, compliance, and close-out.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between finance, program teams, and grantor agencies.
  • Monitor grant compliance with funding source requirements (e.g., OMB Uniform Guidance, CFR regulations).
  • Monitor the progress of grant-funded projects to ensure they are meeting objectives, staying on budget.
  • Ensure Directors of ES and RS and their staff are regularly updated on budget considerations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of required financial reports and invoices.

Accounting & Financial Oversight

  • Collaborate with the Finance Department to integrate grant accounting with organizational financial systems.
  • Supervise grant-related general ledger entries, coding, allocation, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts that include restricted and unrestricted funding.
  • Review and approve grant expenditures to ensure they are reasonable, allowable, and allocable.

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Prepare and submit regular reports to funding agencies, detailing the progress and outcomes of grant-funded projects.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable federal, state, and private grant regulations.
  • Develop and implement internal control systems to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Identify potential risks associated with grant-funded projects and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Conduct periodic internal reviews to identify and address compliance risks.
  • Lead or support audits and monitor visits related to grants, including preparation and follow-up on findings.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and program managers on funding strategy and financial integrity.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal teams on grant management and compliance best practices.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with funding agencies, partners, and other stakeholders involved in grant-funded projects.
  • Occasional travel is required for site visits, training, or audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, Fund Accounting, and OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200).
  • Proficiency in FundEZ, Sage financial software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • High attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field required. Graduate Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in grants management, nonprofit accounting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience working with federal and state grants (e.g., WIOA, HUD, DOL, DEED).
  • Proven leadership and working in a deadline driven team environment.
