Job DescriptionMarketing & Business Development Coordinator – Sacramento

Direct Counsel is seeking a Marketing & Business Development Coordinator to join a leading California law firm. This full-time (40 hours per week) position plays a key role in supporting the firm’s marketing, business development, and communications initiatives, with a focus on CRM management, competitive intelligence, attorney business development support, and the creation of high-quality marketing materials.

The ideal candidate will be resourceful, collaborative, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, professional environment. A hybrid schedule (three days in the office, two remote) may be available after 90 days.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Manage and optimize the firm’s CRM, including data maintenance, mailing lists, and user support/training.

  • Assist with customized pitch materials, RFP responses, and outcome tracking.

  • Conduct competitive and industry research to support client development strategies.

  • Collaborate with attorneys and practice groups to identify and pursue new business opportunities.

  • Attend practice group meetings to stay informed on upcoming events and opportunities.

Marketing, PR, and Communications

  • Draft and distribute client alerts, newsletters, blog posts, and event invitations (WordPress, Canva, Constant Contact).

  • Manage legal rankings and award submissions for the firm and attorneys.

  • Support new attorney onboarding with bios, headshots, and contact updates.

  • Maintain attorney profiles on the website and external directories.

  • Assist with planning, promoting, and executing firm-hosted events, webinars, and sponsorship activities.

Administrative & Team Support

  • Monitor the marketing department inbox and manage internal requests.

  • Track expenses, process checks, and assist with intranet updates.

  • Provide backup coverage during high-volume periods or absences.

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to improve processes and communication.

Requirements:

  • 1–5 years of marketing or business development experience (professional services or law firm preferred).

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field.

  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Nexl, InterAction, Salesforce) and email marketing tools (e.g., Constant Contact).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with WordPress preferred.

  • Some design skills (Canva or similar) a plus.

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Compensation: $50,000 – $68,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
