Brittany Bui with Robert Half is looking for an experienced Tax Manager with a strong background in real estate taxation to join our team in Portland, Oregon. This role involves overseeing tax filings, compliance reporting, and entity registrations for a multi-entity, multi-state structure. The ideal candidate will excel in high-net-worth individual tax planning and work collaboratively with leadership to develop and implement effective tax strategies.


Responsibilities:

• Manage tax filings, compliance reports, and entity registrations across multiple states and entities.

• Provide expert guidance on real estate taxation, including 1031 exchanges and property tax matters.

• Develop tax planning strategies tailored to high-net-worth individuals and complex real estate portfolios.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of evolving requirements.

• Collaborate with leadership to optimize tax strategies and identify areas for cost-saving opportunities.

• Supervise and mentor team members, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in tax reporting and filings.

• Coordinate with external advisors and partners to address complex tax issues and audits.

• Oversee income tax provisions and ensure accurate accounting for tax liabilities.

• Lead projects involving multi-entity and multi-state tax compliance processes.

• Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations to adapt strategies and maintain compliance.

• CPA designation required; advanced degrees such as JD or LLM in Taxation preferred.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in tax, audit, and compliance, ideally within a national accounting firm.
• Expertise in real estate taxation, high-net-worth individual tax planning, and 1031 exchanges.
• Strong familiarity with multi-entity, multi-state tax compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
• Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and work with external advisors to solve challenging tax issues.
