About the Role:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at our Living Center, you will play a critical role in providing compassionate and high-quality nursing care to residents in a supportive and residential environment. Your primary focus will be on monitoring resident health, administering medications, and assisting with daily living activities to ensure the comfort and well-being of each resident. You will collaborate closely with registered nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. This role requires a strong commitment to resident safety, adherence to healthcare regulations, and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies. Ultimately, your work will contribute to enhancing the quality of life for residents by promoting their physical and emotional health in a respectful and dignified manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Kansas.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nursing principles, medication administration, and patient care standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a long-term care or residential living facility.
  • Additional certifications such as IV therapy or wound care beneficial.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to residents, including administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Monitor and document residents’ health status, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervising nurse or physician.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility support.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and update individualized care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Educate residents and their families on health management and wellness practices.
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment by following infection control protocols and safety procedures.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies and provide first aid as necessary.

Skills:

The required skills such as clinical nursing knowledge and medication administration are essential for delivering safe and effective care to residents on a daily basis. Strong observational skills enable the nurse to detect subtle changes in resident conditions and respond appropriately. Communication skills are used to interact compassionately with residents, families, and healthcare team members, ensuring clear understanding and coordination of care. Preferred skills like proficiency with electronic health records streamline documentation and improve accuracy in resident data management. Additionally, skills in specialized areas such as wound care or IV therapy enhance the nurse’s ability to address complex health needs, contributing to comprehensive resident care.
