Steinhaus Keller is a chef-owned, fully scratch, old-world kitchen built on technique, discipline, and consistency. We are seeking a kitchen Manager who can lead operationally and cook at a high level.
Your position is a working leadership role. You will manage systems, protect food costs, and uphold standards—while being fully capable of stepping onto the line during service.
Culinary degree preferred. ServSafe certification required.
Position Overview
This role combines operational management with hands-on culinary leadership. The ideal candidate understands that profitability and precision are equally important.
You must be as comfortable reviewing inventory and labor as you are executing sauté during a busy service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily BOH operations
- Run service as needed (expo or station)
- Manage food cost, inventory, and vendor ordering
- Maintain pars, production flow, and prep systems
- Schedule BOH staff and monitor labor targets
- Enforce food safety, cooling procedures, and labeling standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, disciplined kitchen
- Train, coach, and hold staff accountable
Qualifications
- 5+ years progressive kitchen experience
- Proven leadership in a scratch kitchen environment
- Strong sauté and sauce fundamentals
- Demonstrated food cost and inventory management experience
- Working knowledge of theoretical vs. actual food cost
- Deep understanding of health code compliance
- Professional demeanor with strong communication skills
Culinary degree (“papered chef”) strongly preferred.
