Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer reports to the Plant Manager for product launch support, quoting support, and engineering projects assigned. This position works closely with Supervisors, Technicians, and/or Process Engineers, coordinates with Quality Assurance and Production on inspection or manufacturing activities, and provides project-specific information to Program Managers, Project Engineering, Documentation, Finance, Sales, and Operations as necessary. Sustain products in production by addressing scrap issues, specification or safety concerns, efficiency improvements, and executing required document updates.

  • Develop accurate and complete product, component, and assembly specifications—including item masters and bills of material—using customer drawings/specs and this clients quality requirements for new or transfer products.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality Engineering, Program Management, Project Engineering, and Process Engineering to conceptualize, research, and implement new ideas, processes, and technologies.
  • Provide guidance for quotes and new product development, especially when post-mold processing is involved.
  • Develop and implement engineered solutions in production to address identified nonconformances.
  • Write and execute comprehensive qualifications/validations for processes outside standard molding, including risk assessments.
  • Partner with internal teams to create and implement procedures that improve this clients product quality.
  • Work collaboratively across the organization to identify solutions and manage complex tasks.
  • Provide training and guidance to manufacturing personnel as needed.
  • Offer training and insights to engineers to support their development and company improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by engineering or plant management.
  • Manage and maintain a working capacity plan for analysis and strategic planning.
  • Recommend future capital expenditures to support new programs and launches.
  • Create capacity plans and provide direction on capital requirements for current and future work.

TOP 5 MUST-HAVE SKILLS

  • Education / Experience: Engineering degree or 4+ years relevant experience; 2–3 years plastic injection molding experience.
  • Technical: Strong understanding of automation equipment/systems and GD&T.
  • Quality / Regulatory: Knowledge of ISO/FDA regulations, GMPs; ability to write process FMEAs & validations.
  • Documentation: Ability to create specifications, BOMs, item masters, and capacity plans.
  • Soft Skills: Communication, collaboration, ability to train personnel.


Other Pertinent Information

  • Plastics / injection molding background needed
  • Strong medical device experience preferred
  • Must understand tight tolerances & regulated environments
  • Expected to ramp quickly and contribute immediately-hit the ground running
