The Manufacturing Shop Supervisor oversees daily operations in the manufacturing shop, ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols are met. This role involves managing a team of skilled technicians and operators, coordinating with other departments, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

Supervise and lead a team of machinists, operators, and technicians to meet production goals.

Plan and assign daily work schedules, ensuring efficient use of labor, equipment, and materials.

Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.

Enforce safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA and company policies.

Train and mentor team members, fostering a culture of accountability and skill development.

Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve production issues and optimize workflows.

Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output, downtime, and defect rates.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement lean manufacturing principles.

Manage inventory of tools, raw materials, and finished goods in coordination with the parts coordinator.
Qualifications

Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience: 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

Skills:

Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, assembly, or fabrication.

Proven leadership and team management abilities.

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Proficiency in reading technical drawings and blueprints.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50+ pounds, and perform shop floor inspections.

Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and moderate noise levels.
