About the Role:
The Medical Assistant 3 plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by delivering clinical care and administrative assistance within a medical facility. This position ensures the smooth operation of patient care services by performing clinical tasks, managing patient flow, and maintaining accurate medical records. The role requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to interact compassionately with patients from diverse backgrounds. The Medical Assistant 3 collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to enhance patient outcomes and improve overall healthcare delivery. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the efficiency and quality of care provided in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills
- Skilled in learning and navigating computerized workflows and data entry tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
- Minimum of 1 years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Additional certifications such as Phlebotomy Technician or EKG Technician.
- Familiarity with insurance billing and coding processes.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares exam room, treatment room, supplies and instruments.
- Prepares patient for physician visit and examination including taking patient vital signs, weight, and record information in medical chart.
- Perform advanced clinical procedures such as administering injections, conducting EKGs, and preparing patients for examinations.
- Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and treatments by managing instruments and supplies.
- Maintain and update patient medical records accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards.
- Coordinate patient scheduling, follow-up appointments, and communicate effectively with patients regarding their care plans.
- Obtain prior authorization for drug refills, procedures, and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
- Contact medical facilities or practices to obtain medical clearances and schedule patient tests and procedures.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and medical equipment to uphold safety and infection control standards.

The Medical Assistant 3 utilizes clinical skills daily to perform patient assessments, administer treatments, and assist providers efficiently. Strong organizational skills are essential for managing patient records and coordinating appointments to ensure seamless clinic operations. Effective communication skills enable the assistant to interact compassionately with patients and collaborate with the healthcare team. Proficiency with electronic health record systems supports accurate documentation and compliance with healthcare regulations. Additionally, problem-solving skills help address patient concerns and adapt to the dynamic needs of a healthcare environment.
