Job DescriptionSalary:

Essential Functions:

1. Processes and QAs dismissal charts according to established HIM policies and procedures.
2. Generate deficiency reports for physician distribution. Monitor physician chart room for completed paper records and process as necessary. Monitors manually entered electronic deficiencies updating as necessary.
3. Routes paper records as necessary.
4. Monitor and manage workflow of outsourced dictation/transcription workflow, ensuring work flow is uninterrupted.
5. Assist in processing ROI requests according to policy and procedures.
6. Serve as receptionist, greeting and assisting customers, answering phones, and routing calls and mail as appropriate.
7. Completes own work and maintains accuracy, includes training and supervision of temporary help in job description areas.
8. Assists with the functions of the Health Information Management Department and maintains knowledge of same in order to help keep all areas current.
9. Maintains confidentiality of patient records and other department information.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Able to type accurately at the rate of 20-30 wpm.
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent with emphasis in grammar, typing and office practices including an understanding of numbering and filing systems.
Experience:
Previous office setting with some experience as related to a hospital or doctor's office preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
None.
Code Blue Training:
Ability to activate Code Blue system by dialing 200.

Physical Demands:
Requires frequent sitting; occasional walking and standing. Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs. and carrying up to 30 lbs. Eye-hand coordination, and finger and manual dexterity are required. Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Working under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours is required. Some exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials is required. Frequent bending with occasional twisting and climbing is required. Frequent stooping, kneeling, grasping, reaching, and overhead work is required. Occasional pushing and pulling of objects up to 30 lbs. Requires the ability to distinguish letters or symbols. Ability to use office equipment such as computer terminals, typewriter, telephones, copier, fax machine and calculator. Repetitive movements involved in typing, keyboard entry and writing are required.

Working Conditions:
Work is scheduled predominantly during normal department hours, 07:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.
