Job Title: Electronics Assembly Technician


Job Summary

The Electronics Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, soldering, and inspecting electronic products and sub‑assemblies in accordance with engineering documentation, workmanship standards, and production schedules. This role supports bench‑level and shop‑floor assembly of power assemblies, PCBAs, wiring, and related electronic components while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, ESD, and ISO requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Read and follow work orders, engineering drawings, schematics, sample assemblies, and verbal instructions
  • Assemble electronic products, power assemblies, PCBAs, wiring, harnesses, connectors, and components according to build instructions
  • Perform through‑hole and surface‑mount (SMT) soldering in accordance with IPC‑A‑610 and/or J‑STD‑001 standards
  • Execute assembly builds in a timely manner to meet production schedules and priorities
  • Perform rework and repair of solder joints, components, and assemblies using approved tools and techniques
  • Set up daily work according to production schedules or verbal instructions
  • Collect required parts from inventory and verify correct materials and revisions
  • Work at bench or on the production floor; rotate workstations and cross‑train as needed to support department needs
  • Conduct visual inspection of assemblies and solder joints to verify workmanship and quality compliance
  • Identify defective, damaged, or nonconforming components and escalate issues to Production, Quality, or Engineering
  • Ensure all work complies with drawings, BOMs, travelers, and manufacturing documentation
  • Accurately complete production records, labeling, traceability logs, and required paperwork
  • Support prototype builds, engineering changes, and product updates as assigned
  • Use hand tools, torque‑controlled electric drills, soldering irons, hot‑air tools, microscopes, crimp tools, and measuring devices
  • Operate automated and semi‑automated equipment, including conformal coat, automated test, wave solder, SMT, AOI, and lift‑assist systems
  • Package finished products per work instructions, boxing requirements, and labeling standards
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, ESD controls, PPE requirements, and chemical handling guidelines (SDS/MSDS)
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and support overall facility upkeep
  • Participate in product assembly training, team activities, SQCDMM meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support the vision, mission, strategy, and values of the company


Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical or electronics training preferred
  • 1–3 years of experience in electronics assembly, PCBA assembly, or soldering in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Ability to solder to IPC‑A‑610 and/or J‑STD‑001 standards (certification a plus)
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience using basic hand and power tools
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, assembly drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Strong attention to detail, workmanship quality, and documentation accuracy
  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete digital production records (Microsoft Windows environment)
  • Ability to understand and communicate written and verbal instructions in English
  • Strong teamwork, communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
  • Ability to work with small components, including close visual work and use of microscopes


Physical Requirements

· Ability to stand or walk for extended periods

· Ability to bend, stretch, reach, and climb as required

· Ability to regularly lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.

· Visual requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus
