Job Description

Job DescriptionVolt is hiring a Principal Automation Engineer in Salt Lake City, Utah with a global leader in motion and control technolgies.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing automation and vision inspection technology in the manufacturing of products in the Engineered Polymer Systems division.

As a Principal Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the portfolio of projects and prioritize based on savings impact and potential for replication across all manufacturing facilities.
  • Design automation systems for the target operations
  • Manage fabrication of systems internally and with integrators as required, program and test, manage installation and run-off of the systems in the plants
  • Design and implement automated vision inspection systems
  • Develop work instructions and maintenance procedures, including developing and delivering training on systems
  • Travel to plants, mostly in the US and Mexico, and vendor sites as required
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) (or Professional Engineer (PE) certificate) in an engineering or science technical discipline, preferably ME or EE. (MS is a plus, but is not required)
  • Must have exceptional project management experience with implementing and integrating automation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Has experience in designing and implementing automation systems in manufacturing, including mechatronics and collaborative robots
  • Experience in rubber molding and extrusion is a plus; experience in vision inspection systems is a plus
  • Strong understanding of computer programing relevant to automation, excellent computer proficiency including CAD
  • Ability to collaborate with a cross functional team at various levels of leadership spanning from shop floor operators and team leads to division staff
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision. Responsive to inquiries from other engineering and business teams.

This is a full-time, DIRECT HIRE opportunity.

Salary: $105-175K annually

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
