Job Title: Accounting Specialist – Accounts Payable
Pay: $29.20
Hours: 30-32 hours/week
Job Summary:
Seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to support the Tribe’s Accounts Payable team. This role processes financial distributions, maintains records, and ensures accurate and timely payments to Tribal members and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile financial ledgers and records
- Process monthly and quarterly distributions to Tribal members
- Handle inter-entity payments and IRS Form 1099 reporting
- Verify invoices, account codes, and supporting documentation
- Maintain accurate Tribal member and vendor files
- Prepare and post payment batches, print and distribute checks
- Assist with year-end reporting and other accounting duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Proficient with data entry and common office equipment
- Clear, professional communication skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong customer service, even under pressure
- Education/Experience (one of the following):
- MA or Bachelor's in Accounting, or Bachelor’s with 20+ semester hours in accounting + 2 years experience
- Associate's in Accounting with 20+ semester hours in accounting + 4 years experience
- High school diploma/GED + 6 years professional accounting experience, including 20+ semester hours in accounting.
