Job Description: Industrial Maintenance Technician
Position Summary
The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving industrial equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role supports production through preventative maintenance, rapid response to breakdowns, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on industrial machinery and equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems
- Diagnose equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions
- Maintain and repair motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, compressors, and material handling systems
- Perform electrical troubleshooting on 480V, 208V, and 120V systems
- Support PLC troubleshooting (I/O, sensors, VFDs, HMIs – level dependent on experience)
- Perform equipment installations, upgrades, and rebuilds
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and manuals
- Document maintenance activities in CMMS and follow preventive maintenance schedules
- Support production startups, changeovers, and shutdowns
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and company procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and outside vendors as needed
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred
- 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience (manufacturing, food & beverage, packaging, or similar)
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Experience with industrial equipment such as conveyors, motors, pumps, and gearboxes
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
- Basic PLC troubleshooting experience preferred
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- PLC experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
- Welding and fabrication experience (MIG/TIG/Stick)
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
- Knowledge of VFDs and motor controls
- Experience in food processing or regulated environments (FDA, USDA, GMP)
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or rotating shifts as needed
- Ability to respond to emergency maintenance calls
