Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A nursing role is available on a cardiac stepdown unit, providing specialized care for post-operative and cardiac patients. This contract position offers the opportunity to apply focused clinical skills within a collaborative inpatient environment. The assignment length is 13 weeks, with weekends required every other weekend and night shift hours from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct patient care following nursing processes including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and ensure comfort.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold patient rights.
- Manage complex patient needs related to post-op CABG/valve procedures, thoracotomies, respiratory failure, and chest pain.
- Respond to changing patient conditions and float as needed to similar or lower acuity units.
- Adhere to hospital policies, mission, values, and service standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri.
- Minimum 1 year experience in Cardiac Stepdown inpatient care.
- BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required; NIHSS preferred.
- Proficiency with chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, Bipap machines, and EPIC EMR.
- Strong teamwork and positive culture promotion skills.
Schedule and Workload:
- Night shift: 1900 - 0730
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 or 48 (to be indicated on submission)
- Weekend shifts every other weekend, no call required.
