Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Manager to lead and oversee the accounts payable function for our organization near Kalamazoo, MI. This role is responsible for managing AP operations, ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting financial close processes. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, in-depth AP knowledge, and a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, approvals, and payment scheduling
- Lead, train, and coach AP staff to ensure performance standards and deadlines are met
- Ensure accurate processing of vendor invoices in accordance with company policies and GAAP
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls related to the procure-to-pay process
- Oversee vendor setup, W-9 collection, 1099 preparation, and compliance requirements
- Reconcile AP subledger to the general ledger and support month-end and year-end close activities
- Partner with Purchasing, Finance, and Operations to resolve discrepancies and improve processes
- Develop and document AP procedures and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist with audits by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounts payable experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, internal controls, and GAAP
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics, QuickBooks, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations)
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, healthcare, or multi-entity environments
- Prior experience managing high-volume AP processing
- Continuous improvement or process automation experience
Pay Details: $70,000.00 to $79,000.00 per year
