The DATA - Azure AI Data Foundry RAG Engineer functions as a strategic partner to Operations and the IT Automation Team, tasked with establishing and governing Azure AI Foundry environments, building chatbots, and implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines that democratize data-driven decision-making across the organizations network. This is individual will be the technical backbone of our emerging AI practice—designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable AI solutions that align with organizational priorities. As a core member of the team, the Azure AI Engineer will champion AI best practices, ensure robust governance, and be a key contributor to the company’s mission of scalable excellence in warehouse execution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Stand-up and govern Azure AI Foundry environments, configuring security, compliance, and cost-control policies.
· Design, develop, and deploy internal chatbots for Microsoft Teams and web that streamline employee and customer interactions.
· Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines by integrating Azure Cognitive Search with large language models to deliver context-aware responses from internal data sources.
· Build and maintain serverless workflows and REST APIs using Azure Functions (primarily Python) to orchestrate data ingestion and AI inference.
· Document architectures, create technical runbooks, and evangelize AI best practices across cross-functional teams.
· Partner with Operations, IT, and Continuous Improvement teams to gather requirements and translate business problems into technical designs.
· Monitor model performance, perform root-cause analysis on anomalies, and iterate on deployments for reliability and scalability.
· Identify opportunities to integrate AI and machine learning into warehouse and transportation workflows to improve forecasting, automation, and decision-making.
· Provide ad-hoc analysis and proofs-of-concept to evaluate new Azure AI capabilities and recommend adoption roadmaps.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality engineering practices.
· Proficiency in Python and familiarity with modern development practices (Git, CI/CD, containerization).
· Working knowledge of Azure Cognitive Search, vector databases, and RAG design patterns.
· Ability to communicate complex AI concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
· Self-starter comfortable operating in a green-field environment and driving continuous learning/improvement initiatives.
· Ability to leverage cross-functional teams to achieve project and organizational goals.
· Demonstrated problem-solving skills and aptitude for root-cause analysis.
· Comfortable exploring emerging technologies and translating complex models into actionable insights for business users.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field required.
· 2–5 years of professional experience in software, ML, or data engineering, with at least 1 year hands-on in Azure AI services.
· Experience with Azure Functions and Azure Cognitive Search preferred
